NEWS RELEASE SEPTEMBER 27, 2020

Delta Phi Lambda Foundation Announces 2020 Recipients of the Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship and the Academic Excellence Scholarship

Every year, the Delta Phi Lambda Foundation awards the Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship and the Academic Excellence Scholarship, each in the amount of $1,000. The Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship can help alumnae sisters with costs associated with graduate school, conducting research, or professional conferences. The recipient of the alumnae scholarship has demonstrated strong leadership, and a desire to effect positive change in their communities.

This year’s recipient of the Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship is Kat “Prototype” Ho, an alumna of Sigma Chapter at Clemson University. Kat graduated with her BS in Biological Sciences, with a minor in Microbiology in 2017, and since then has continued to serve the sorority in various leadership positions, including as Director of New Member Services, Charter Member Educator, Chapter Advisor, and currently as Interest Group Manager. Kat aims to complete her MS in Physician Assistant Studies at Francis Marion University. By pursuing a career in the medical field, she hopes to give back to marginalized communities, specifically providing preventative and primary care catered to underserved areas and minority communities.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship can help collegiate sisters offset costs associated with academics including, tuition, books, and study abroad. The recipient of the academic excellence scholarship has achieved academic excellence, performed community service, and served in several leadership positions.

The recipient of this year’s Academic Excellence Scholarship is Beta Chapter’s Ishani “Lyzel” Paul. Secretary of the Multicultural Greek Council at the University of Cincinnati and Internal Vice President of her chapter, Ishani is committed to helping sisters remain connected during these unusual times while also pursuing her BS in Neuroscience. Ishani is part of the University Honors Program and has volunteered with Women Helping Women, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Upward Bound.

Many thanks to our generous donors who make scholarships like these possible. With their support, scholarship recipients are able to focus their time and energy towards achieving their goals with less financial stress.
